‘The roots of Corinna’s work may be in German Expressionism – The darkness, the colours, the bold, solid forms, the sense of something just out of reach …this is exciting, tantalizing work’ Sue Roe, Author of ‘The Private Lives of the Impressionists’ and ‘ GWEN JOHN - A LIFE’ 2007

‘It is not often I visit an exhibition which changes the way I look at the world’ Helen Parrott (Arts Council Of England) (2007 – ‘On The Pull’ solo exhibition)

Method of Working;

I work closely with painting and printmaking- they often cross- reference each other then fuse on canvas or paper.

It’s the process of bringing something to light that I love.

I like the scraping and carving out process of printmaking and the scraping back process in painting. I don’t like pictures that look rehearsed so I usually work spontaneously and directly onto the plate. On occasion, I spray or brush layers of texture or pattern onto the paper before printing on it. This can give the surface an intriguing ambiguity, richness and the special atmosphere I am seeking.

Artist’s Statement;

My work is about digging and excavating – peeling back layers to reveal something hidden beneath the surface. My ideas come from seemingly ordinary happenings; people at their daily routines, a word or snippet of conversation an advert in a magazine, a particular fabric in a dress

or curtain ..etc Whatever the trigger, I frequently draw on disparate sources snapped out of our so-called reality and bring them together into an imagined, unreal world to further capture and exaggerate identity or to emphasize something particular about the human condition.

I want to project and communicate something beyond the surface, something essentially unspoken.
